Keynote speaker Dr. Miguel Diaz

Dr. Miguel Diaz, prominent Miami-Dade cardiologist, and Ilona Jaramillo, a specialist for international trade development in Florida, headlined the speaking program at the Feb. 9 Doral Business Council Signature Breakfast.

Both provided useful information, including ways to know the signs of an oncoming heart attack by Dr. Diaz.

Details about renewable energy in Florida were reviewed by Jaramillo, a Director of International Business Development.

As keynote speaker, Dr. Diaz, M.D., interventional cardiologist at Palmetto General Hospital, described methods of treating coronary artery disease, structural heart disease and peripheral arterial disease.

Dr. Diaz is certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology and certified in Nuclear Cardiology by the American Board of Nuclear Cardiology. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons-American Society of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention.

Jaramillo, specialist for international trade development for Enterprise Florida (not the rental car company, as people often surmise), told how she recruits strategic foreign direct investment for the State of Florida, working with foreign-owned companies to help establish state offices.

While, the European renewable energy market has evolved more rapidly than in the U.S., the debate over its domestic use has become more prominent as Jaramillo continually meets with many foreign companies interested in entering the Florida market.

She consequently has gained an understanding of the different regulatory and business environments in Europe and the U.S., working closely with Florida regulators, utilities and businesses to identify opportunities for foreign companies interested in entering the renewable energy sector of Florida.

The next DBC Signature Breakfast is scheduled Tue., Mar.8. For more information on DBC events, visit www.doralbusiness.com.
