Manny Diaz, Jr., was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2012 and subsequently re-elected in 2014. He is current chair of the choice and innovation subcommittee.

A native of Hialeah, he has worked with the youth of this community as a teacher, coach and administrator – and understands that Florida’s future success is dependent on the quality of education today. For 20 years, Diaz has been involved in education, first serving as a teacher and coach at both Miami Springs and Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High Schools, and is presently an assistant principal at Hialeah Miami Lakes High for seven years. He also was a founding partner of the Beyond the Bell Learning Center in Miami Springs.

Diaz graduated with a bachelor’s in HR/education from St. Thomas University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern, and completed the prestigious Harvard Graduate School of Education Principal’s Summer Institute in 2006.

Diaz was appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Keep Florida Learning Committee under Education Commissioner Pam Stewart.
