As summer draws to a close many of the seniors who graduated are preparing to leave for college. Over 80 percent received scholarships and a number of those are recognized here:
• Luis Alcantara was accepted to and offered scholarships from Bellevue University, Shorter University, and Western Nebraska.
• Neftali Alvarez was accepted to and offered scholarships from the following universities: Akron University, Arkansas State, Austin Peay University, College of Charleston, Colorado State University, Dayton University, Fairfield University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida International University, Georgia Tech, Hofstra University, Purdue, UAB, UMASS, UTEP, V.C.U., Virginia, Wichita State, and Wyoming.
• Allison Bean was accepted to Florida Gulf Coast University, the University of Central Florida, and the University of South Florida – and offered scholarships to USF.
• ZaBria Bridges, was accepted to Florida Memorial University and St. Leo University – and was offered scholarships to St. Leo. Eduardo Castillo. She was accepted to and offered scholarships from the following universities: ASA, Bellevue University, Hillsborough Community, Shorter University, UNC, and Western Nebraska.
• Samantha Delgado was accepted to Barry University and Miami Dade College. She also received a service scholarship from BloodOne for the work she did throughout her high school years getting individuals to donate blood and making blood donations.
In other news, Chievo Miami will be holding a soccer club on the campus of Miami Christian. An informational meeting for those interested will be Aug. 15 at 5 p.m.
The Back to School event for new and returning students to Miami Christian will be held on the campus on Monday, August 20, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
