Over 120 runners from Divine Savior Academy ran together in the Doral 5K on Mar 15, sporting bright blue running shirts for a visual impact of their 10-year anniversary message, “Divine Savior Academy: 10 Years Running Strong.”
DSA runners included students, parents, family members, faculty, staff, and administrators of all ages, from age two in strollers to high school track athletes and Senior Pastor Carl Leyrer.
“This is my first 5K,” said Principal Ben Troge. “I loved the feeling of camaraderie not only among our DSA
group, but also with the community of Doral. “It was a special experience to run the race down 58th street, right in front of Divine Savior Academy and in the heart of Doral.”
Highlighting the competition was DSA sophomore Guilherme Pereira who finished in second place, overall. Also on the podium were students Caden Fischer and Nicolas Padilla, as well as DSA parent Julia Leyrer, Teachers Erika Laete, Amy Schramm, and Brittany Steinmeyer.
“To see how big our DSA family has become is really a testament to God’s grace. It’s amazing how far He has brought us over the last decade,” enthused Superintendent Carlos Leyrer.
Divine Savior Academy, the only private Christian school in Doral, has over 550 students enrolled in Pre-K3 through twelfth grade and is celebrating its tenth anniversary year in 2014.
