One of South Florida’s most admired local businesses, Bunnie Cakes, is opening a vegan, gluten-free, and kosher bakery and café in a new storefront location at the shops at Downtown Doral, a 250-acre mixed use community located off of NW 87th Ave and 53rd Street.
The Wynwood-based bakery and cafe plans to offer baking workshops, along with its savory offerings and decorating party packages.
“This is the second retailer from the Wynwood area that is heading west to Downtown Doral, signaling the relevance for and demand of the Doral market,” said Ana-Marie Codina Barlick, CEO of Codina Partners, developer of Downtown Doral.
The Bunnie Cakes storefront in Downtown Doral will occupy a 1,730 square foot space at 8450 NW 53rd Street, Suite H101, Doral, FL 33166.
“We love the Doral area and think downtown Doral is going to be the best home for the first outpost of Bunnie Cakes,” says Mariana Cortez, owner of Bunnie Cakes. “We hope to cater to our customers who find Doral to be closer to them, as well as become a go to place for Venezuelans and other discerning residents of Doral looking for vegan alternatives to favorites like cachitos.”
Bunnie Cakes was formed in 2009, when Cortez decided to create her own vegan cake for her son Luke’s birthday when she was unable to find a vegan bakery in town. She began her company from her home kitchen, and in 2013 opened an official storefront in Wynwood at 2322 NE 2nd Ave.
Today her baked goods range from cupcakes to cakes and cookies, as well as a selection of grab and go sandwiches and lite snacks can be purchased at her storefront and select product at Whole Foods locations.
