City leaders note the canal bank stabilization project at the Dressel Canal was completed on budget and on schedule.

With a snip of the ribbon, March 2, a new canal bank stabilization project was inuagurated at the Dressel Canal along NW 41st St. between NW 87th Ave. and NW 79th Ave., and the Dressel Canal adjacent to NW 107th Ave. between NW 52nd St. and NW 57th Str. The city reports that this project, which began in June 2017, was completed on budget and on schedule.

The project also included the construction of a maintenance, pedestrian, and bike shared use path (Dressel’s Dairy Trail) along NW 41 St. between NW 87 Ave. and NW 82 Ave. This path now allows residents to safely ride their bikes in addition to alleviating traffic when maintenance workers are out on the field.

The Canal Bank Stabilization Year 5A project consisted of restoring and stabilizing the canal banks of the Dressel Canal through geo-web techniques in order to provide for erosion control.
