CityPlace Doral – a master-planned, mixed-use development nestled in the heart of Miami-Dade County managed by Avison Young – is pleased to announce Angel Cabrera has been appointed to Senior General Manager. Avison Young is a full-services global commercial real estate firm that provides transaction, property and project management, financial and advisory services across all sectors to owners and occupiers. In this role, Cabrera will manage the center’s daily property operations, special events, marketing and short-term and specialty income events, as well as achieving revenue targets for the center.
“I am eager to start my role as Senior General Manger of CityPlace Doral,” said Cabrera. “I shall pride myself in providing the Doral and surrounding communities with their favorite destination of where to shop, dine and entertain.”
Cabrera is an established asset management professional with over 24 years of retail shopping center operations and construction project management experience. He has an extensive background working for globally recognized retail REITs such as Taubman and Westfield shopping centers, where he focused on strategic planning and demonstrated technical proficiency in property management.
Throughout his career, Cabrera has been actively involved in numerous groundbreaking construction projects including the new construction and grand openings of Dolphin Mall in Miami, FL, Wellington Green Mall in Palm Beach County, FL, International Plaza in Tampa, FL and the Oculus/Fulton Center in Manhattan, NY. His involvement also extends to revitalizing redevelopment projects at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ, Westland Mall in Hialeah, FL and the theater at Broward Mall in Plantation, FL.
In the last seven years, Cabrera worked as the General Manager of the Broward Mall in Plantation where he actively served as a Vice Chair on the Plantation Chamber of Commerce Executive Board and was Chairman on the City of Plantation’s Council Advisory Board for its Midtown district.
Passionate about asset management in the retail industry, Cabrera is dedicated to providing communities with safe, clean and enjoyable shopping experiences. Cabrera believes in networking with local city officials, business leaders and tenants to collaboratively develop evolving shopping destinations that add value and enhance the community.
Cabrera is a graduate of New York Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He also has other certifications with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and in asset management.
He and his late wife raised two sons who are graduates from University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL, and are now underway with their professional careers. He is blessed to have found love again and plans to marry sometime soon. Cabrera enjoys the outdoors, boating and sailing with friends and family. Notably, he takes pride in having participated as a torchbearer and runner in the once-in-a-lifetime event of the Centennial Olympics of 1996 held in Atlanta, GA.
