The City of Doral Police Department and Parks & Police 4 Kids Foundation (PP4K) hosted the community at the Doral Police Training & Community Center for National Night Out & Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. This fun-filled and informative event prepares families for back-to-school season while equipping them with beneficial tips on crime watch and public safety.

Mayor Christi Fraga and City Council joined PP4K board members to distribute 1,200 free backpacks and supplies to Doral students! This is the most backpacks ever given at this annual event. Other fun activities included: family entertainment, balloon twisters, music, and exciting police demonstrations.

PP4K is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit corporation organized to provide child welfare and family services to the community. The City of Doral Mayor and Council, along with the Police Department and the Parks & Recreation Department, work closely with PP4K to coordinate events and programs geared towards achieving this important goal.

The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Out now involves over 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
