A South Florida tradition continues as the Annual Art Fest at Doral transforms the Carlos Albizu University into an artists’ gallery this month. Admission is free.
Presented by Rotary Club of Doral, this year’s event will showcase works of more than 100 artists from several states and foreign countries Oct. 19-21.
Exhibiting artists are chosen from dozens who submit samples in mixed media, painting, photography, digital art, printmaking & drawing, watercolor, clay work, glass, fiber, jewelry & metalwork, sculpture and wood. All exhibitors also may sell one-of-akind and limited edition works.
While art enthusiasts, collectors and casual observers explore the exhibits, youngsters have the opportunity to create their own works of art and take free classes with known artists and teachers and have fun in the process.
Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Proceeds from the Doral Rotary festival help to fund year-round arts programs and benefit PTAs of the local public participating schools as well as other charitable causes related to the welfare of children in Central American orphanages.
Festival hours are scheduled on Friday, Oct. 19 from 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For information for artists, contact Nathalia Viveros at artfestatdoral@gmail.com. For sponsorship opportunities, contact Felipe E. Madrigal at felipe@dawcc.org.
