In moments of crisis, mothers facing unplanned pregnancies often feel overwhelmed and alone. For more than two decades, A Safe Haven for Newborns has been a beacon of hope, offering lifesaving options for these mothers and their newborns. Our nonprofit works tirelessly to prevent infant abandonment and provide the resources, support, and care that both mother and child need to thrive.
The Mission
Founded on the belief that every life is precious, A Safe Haven for Newborns operates across the state of Florida, Nationally and Internationally, providing a network of safe spaces where newborns can be surrendered anonymously and legally at any Hospital and 24/7 staffed Fire/EMS Stations. These locations ensure that babies are cared for immediately offering them a future filled with love and possibility. The organization also supports mothers, offering 24/7 multilingual helpline, connections to prenatal care, shelters, maternity homes, abuse issues, suicide calls, transportation, and assistance with the Safe Haven process, etc. This holistic approach ensures that no mother has to face an unplanned pregnancy alone.
How You Can Help
- Volunteer Your Time
From hosting awareness events to assisting with fundraising activities, to creating baby showers, volunteers are the backbone of A Safe Haven for Newborns. Students can also earn community service hours with the “Safe Haven Community Service” App.
- Make a Donation
Every dollar contributes to providing critical resources, maintaining the 24/7 helpline, and supporting mothers and babies in need. Donations can be made securely through our website. We do not charge for any of our services.
- Attend our Fundraising Events
Every year we have an Annual Golf Tournament in May and our biggest Fundraising Event, the Annual Gala in October, in which we celebrate the lives of all the babies and mothers that have been helped. The highlight of the evening is seeing real-life impact of Safe Haven throughout the Florida communities, through very moving testimonies.
- Building Capital Campaign
The “Bricks of Hope” New Home Building Capital Campaign is launched with a clear objective— ensuring the expansion of our essential work in saving lives at a permanent home. Consolidating into a core location will foster synergies among volunteers, helpline, staff, management, and donors. This move aims to increase awareness, functional space, and establish a lasting legacy for generations to come.
- Spread the Word
Help raise awareness about the Safe Haven for Newborns Program and the support available to mothers in crisis. Share our mission with friends, family, and your community to ensure no newborn is left without care. Follow us on all of our social media platforms to stay updated.
A Legacy of Lives Saved
Since its inception, A Safe Haven for Newborns has saved 424 babies and has helped over 6,000 women in need. Each story is a testament to the power of compassion and the resilience of the human spirit. Together, we can continue to make a difference.
