The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science created a new concept for bringing the universe closer to families with the Frost Science Portable Planetarium. The inflatable planetarium made its first public appearance at Southland Mall’s “Festive Fridays” on Friday, June 3.
Until now, only students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools were able to experience this mobile planetarium system, which accommodated various groups of curious guests at a time. The event ran for approximately two hours and allowed the community to explore the cosmos through an unforgettable one-of-a-kind experience. Guests immersed themselves in a 360-degree galaxy environment as they entered the Frost Science Portable Planetarium and interacted with celestial objects in our solar system.
The spectacle, which lasted approximately 15 minutes per viewing session, featured special star gazing shows and a view of various constellations as they currently look in the night-sky. The showings also featured interactive activities to learn about the planets and more. Additionally, guests were able to learn about the new Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, as well as learn other ways to get involved with the museum.
