Miami Christian School’s end of year events concluded with its high school graduation ceremony on May 20, at Florida International University. Numerous students received honors at the event. In fact, 82 percent of the students will be heading to colleges and universities on scholarships.

This year’s Valedictorian was Christine Rosillo who graduated with a GPA of 5.31. Christine was accepted to Liberty University, Lynn University, Rollins College, Stetson University, Southeastern University and the University of South Florida, and received more than $350,000 in scholarship offers from these schools for her four years of study.

Meanwhile, this year’s Salutatorian, Bryant Pineda, graduated with a GPA of 4.88. Bryant was accepted to Florida International University, Hofstra University, Nova Southeastern University, Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of Denver and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Each of these institutions offered him scholarships and grants – for a four-year total from all the universities of over $500,000

Students were recognized for volunteer work with a number of them receiving the prestigious Presidential Service Award – an award that students may win annually upon completion of a certain number of hours of service. Seniors Allison Bean, Samantha Delgado, Jaqueline Gonzalez, Bryant Pineda and Christine Rosillo each received this award. Allison Bean has the distinction of being the only student in the history of Miami Christian who first won this award when she was in K-5 Kindergarten. Samantha Delgado also received a scholarship from OneBlood for her work in donating blood, working at the school’s blood drives, and encouraging others to donate for local needs.

Senior Miguel Diaz was recognized for being chosen as an Independent Schools of South Florida Star Student based on excelling in academics, service, athletics, students, commitment to positive goals and his positive attitude. Miguel attended the organization’s Star Luncheon and received a medal for his achievements in front of the audience of more than 800.
