InterContinental at Doral Miami joined a weeklong program of activities as part of a worldwide campaign to help protect and preserve unique and cultural heritage sites during “Responsible Business Week 2012” in September.
The third year for the hotel’s participation, the program is an event created by National Geographic’s support of UNESCO’s World Heritage and sustainable tourism initiative, “People Protecting Places.”
“We know our customers want to stay with brands that are responsible, and that is why we want to do things in a responsible way,” commented Jose Marti, General Manager. “The Week is a special time when we come together to make a difference here in Doral.”
Distribution of litter bags and keeping nearby city blocks clean were part of the activities in which InterContinental managers and executive members participated. More than 10,000 hours were dedicated by InterContinental Hotels & Resorts worldwide during 2011.
