InterContinental launches ‘Pop of Pink’ for Susan G. Komen® of Miami/Ft. Lauderdale

InterContinental at Doral Miami launched Pop of Pink Fashion Exhibition, a culmination event of this year’s breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign benefiting Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.

This marks the 8th consecutive year the hotel raises funds for SGK and hosts an event. The campaign is in partnership with the Fashion Institute of Miami Dade College, White’s Art Gallery, and Westland Mall.

Students of the Fashion Institute will curate the fashion, which will be exhibited by local SGK breast cancer survivors at the annual event on Oct. 27 at the InterContinental at Doral Miami.

Artists of White’s Art Gallery also painted jeans and jean jackets for the cause, which were auctioned on Oct. 1 during the annual ceremony that lit the hotel front in pink to kick off breast cancer awareness month. Westland Mall will also host an event as part of the Pop of Pink campaign on Oct. 20.

Since the hotel was built in 2000, the ownership has been committed to giving back to the community. “We are proud to be doing our part with our annual campaign and be able to help meet the most critical needs in the community through Susan G. Komen Miami/ Ft. Lauderdale,” said Randal Pasut, hotel general manager.

Monies raised locally help provide treatment in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties, screening mammograms, or help patients in need with the cost to pay for diagnostic exams or chemotherapy treatment, as well as provide financial assistance.

Tickets to the Pop of Pink Fashion Exhibition can be purchased at https://tinyurl.com/ICDoralPOP2018.

The change of event from a Zumbathon® to a fashion exhibition, mirrors SGK’s changes to its annual fundraising walk this fall. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale was selected to be one of eight locations across the country to pilot a new Susan G. Komen More Than Pink® WalkTM, which will be held at Bayfront Park on Oct. 13.

“Supporting partners like the InterContinental at Doral Miami and events like these are what make our services and Komen possible,” said Sherri Martens-Curtis, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen® of Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.
