It was an evening to celebrate the accomplishments of two local organizations whose joint mission is to help young men and women create a better life for themselves. Most importantly, it was a night to experience the results of this remarkable collaboration personally.
The first-ever MagicWaste Youth Foundation (MWYF) and Citrus Family Care Network (Citrus FCN) “Meet & Greet” cocktail brought together several former foster youths participating in MWYF’s Excalibur Youth Empowerment Project with the program’s benefactors.
During a brief presentation, Citrus FCN President and CEO Mario Jardón and MWYF founder and President Rudy Bustamante greeted the animated guests and talked about the entities’ partnership.
Event emcee Christine Bustamante, MWYF’s Community Relations Liaison, introduced Excalibur Project scholar Brittney Wilson, who is training to be a medical assistant and plans to study Nursing. Ms. Wilson spoke about the difference that the project’s support has made in her life.
Then it was time to share even more great news as MWYF Secretary Rebeca Trujillo announced a new Excalibur benefactor. Carlos L. Martínez, President and CEO of United HomeCare, presented a ceremonial check to Mssrs. Bustamante and Jardón, and commented on the importance of working together to help struggling and disadvantaged members of the South Florida community.
Guests mixed and mingled the rest of the night, enjoying the welcoming setting of the Intercontinental Hotel Doral, where an exquisite buffet and myriad refreshments were served.
