Miami Christian School graduates have a long history of receiving multiple scholarship offers over the years. In fact, of this year’s Class of 2017, 82 percent of the grads received more than $5 million in scholarships and grants for their four years at the university level. They were also accepted to more than 45 different colleges and universities.
Among the long list of recent graduates receiving impressive scholarships is Ricardo Mesa, who will be attending the Barry University Andreas School of Business on scholarships and grants for four years equaling $138,040. Mesa also plans to be involved in one of their Business Learning Connections. Yet another high achiever of note is Julitza Lopez who will be attending American University on scholarships and grants totaling $280,960 over four years.
MCS athletes garnered many scholarship offers as well. Basketball stand-out Josh Rosario will be attending Barry University on a four-year basketball scholarship. He was also offered basketball scholarships to Fairfield University, the University of Kentucky, the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Wesleyan University.
Omar Aguilar will attend Dean College on a baseball scholarship this Fall. Nelson Porras, in addition to receiving baseball scholarship offers from Arizona Christian University, Keiser University and Rollins University, was a recipient of the One Blood Scholarship, for his work throughout the year in donating blood and getting others to donate their blood as well.
At the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2017, Miami Christian School Head Lorena Morrison recognized Joanna Clark for her 34 years of service to the school upon her retirement. Dr. Morrison led the Senior Class in a standing ovation for her, praising her for her dedication to her students and to MCS over more than 3 decades. She will be missed.
As summer comes to an end, students are completing their summer reading, enjoying the last days of vacation, and looking forward to the MCS Back to School Bash on Aug. 21. This is a fun day during which students come together to see old friends and meet new students as well as get their schedules and lockers for the coming school year.
