Miami Christian School’s Associate Head, Teri Logan. emceed the Doral Business Council’s Sept. 10 luncheon at the Miami Airport Convention Center, moderating a panel that included Michael Pappas (Keyes Realty), Carlos Gazitua (Sergio’s Restaurant) and George Capo (El Dorado Furniture). The panel addressed the topic of multigenerational family businesses and, with Dr. Logan’s wit and interesting commentaries by all, the program was a great success. Afterwards, audience members visited workshops and a business expo where MCS hosted a table to answer questions and promote the school to the greater Doral community, aided by Donna Gehring and Coach Chris Cuadra.
In campus news, congratulations are in order for new class officers following elections. Our new student leaders include: Seniors: Lazaro Diaz, President, Sonali Khiyani, Elizabeth Rosillo, Vice Presidents; Juniors: Victoria Vila, President, Sebastian Dayoub, Jessica Garcia, Vice Presidents, Aldo Ripley, Treasurer; Sophomores: Neils Junco, President, Julitza Lopez, Nelson Porras, Vice Presidents, Ricardo Mesa, Treasurer, Alekzander Reyes, Secretary; Freshmen: Jaqueline Gonzalez, President, Allison Bean, Christine Rosillo, Vice Presidents, Bryan Pineda, Treasurer.
On the sports front, our victorious MCS athletic teams enjoy great seasons as Girls’ Volleyball, Boys’ Bowling, and Cross Country are in full swing.
The MCS bowling team is undefeated, having beaten Gulliver, Miami Springs High, Belen Jesuit and Columbus. They have not only won every game, but every match in every game as of mid-September.
In other campus news, George Lockhart was the invited speaker for Spiritual Emphasis Week with special chapel services enjoyed by secondary students during a week of daily assemblies. Pastor and missionary of Vision2Hear, Fayetteville, GA, Lockhart spoke for the series with an inspiring and challenging message for students.
Leading the charge for scholarship offers, MCS Senior, Elizabeth Rosillo received the first college acceptance and scholarship offer of the 2014-15 year. Elizabeth has been accepted at Southeastern University and offered an initial four-year scholarship of $30,000.
