Novecento offers a new look, bold dishes, and Argentinian flair at CityPlace

Novecento, the beloved Argentinean hotspot with existing locations in Brickell, Aventura, and Key Biscayne is now open at CityPlace Doral. The brand has unveiled the concept’s new look and feel, along with a refreshed and invigorated menu here.

Acquired by SuViche Hospitality Group in July 2017, the brand-wide innovation efforts are reflected in the new restaurant, but still hold true to Novecento’s heritage. To reimagine the menu, the team tapped world-renowned chef and partner Jaime Pesaque, whose resume includes stints at El Celler de Can Roca, the opening of Pacifico in Milan, and his critically acclaimed restaurant Mayta and 500 Grados in Peru.

Created after extensive research and travel through Mendoza and Buenos Aires in Argentina, the menu is a cultural blend of Mediterranean influences along with the culinary creativity that has fueled Argentina’s cuisine and their mastery of meats.

The use of fresh ingredients and open fire grilling techniques renders a menu that is refined yet approachable.

“Novecento is an iconic and a beloved brand, so our vision is not to redefine but to revitalize it. We think loyal fans will be happy with what we have in store and new guests will find much to love,” says Aliosha Stern, SuViche Hospitality Group founder.

The menu is divided into simple categories:
• Primer Tiempo (First Course);
• Parrilla (Grill);
• Segundo Tiempo (Second Course);
• Provisiones (Sides); and
• Masas (Homemade Pastas).

The restaurant boasts a Mate Cart, a beautiful mobile station featuring an earthy selection of yerba mate, as well as a traditional Argentinian herbal tea known for having the strength of coffee and the health benefits of tea. They also feature a wine dispensing system that offers diners a wide variety of wine options including higher quality wines all available in different pour sizes.

Primer Tiempo dishes include a variety of items such as Stracciatella ($15) with cherry tomatoes; Pulpo a la Brasa ($19); Filet Mignon Carpaccio ($15); and Albondigas ($13).

From the Parrilla, entrees offer an array of selections like the Entraña (Skirt Steak); Vacío (Flap Steak); and Costilla (Slow-Cooked Bone in Short Rib).

To complement the Parilla, exceptional Provisiones include charred broccolini, sautéed spinach, sautéed vegetables, shrooms, creamed spinach, truffle fries and grilled kabocha squash.

Dive into the Segundo Tiempo, and homemade pastas with dishes such as Risotto de Mariscos ($27) calamari, octopus, paprika, arborio rice and parmesan; or handmade ravioli Calabaza ($18) a squash and smoked almond filled ravioli with brown butter and sage.

In addition to the new dishes, Novecento has debuted a marvelous new cocktail program. Also available is a specially curated wine list with premium selections from Argentina as well as worldwide.

Novecento Doral also offers a sprawling happy hour program seven days a week from 3 to 8 p.m. with $6 drinks and promotions such as Wine Tuesdays offering 50 percent off wine every; Pasta Wednesday with $11 pasta selections, and $8 Johnny Walker Black every Friday.

Also not to be missed is the fabulous new brunch menu available Saturdays and Sundays.

Saladino Design Studios has brought the team’s vision to life, in a brand new 5,000-square-foot venue awash in rustic charm, featuring copper accents and natural wood finishes. An open wine cellar is located on the second floor while the interior space offers diners old-world charm in an airy and bustling space.
