After a difficult school year due to a mass shooting on their high-school campus in February, a group of Marjory Stoneman Douglas students were gifted with a generous shopping spree to lighten their spirits – and to help them prepare for college and professional careers.
Made possible by Miami-based Perry Ellis International (PEI), about 15 students – some first-generation, some U.S. transplants – were invited to the outlet and welcomed by Perry Ellis Executive Vice President Joseph Roisman. The outlet Is located at 6950 NW 77th Ct.
Roisman shared words of encouragement, reminding students of the power of education. One student told Roisman that she will be attending Florida International University in the fall while a other students noted they recently received baseball scholarships.
DJ Mikey Forte was on hand to keep the atmosphere lively as students eagerly roamed the store, trying on a various smart and professional outfits. With the help and consultation of in-store experts, each student then received one outfit, complete with accessories and shoes.
The day ended as friends gathered in the photo booth for memories, engaged in an impromptu fashion show, and munched on pizza and other treats.
