Doral is a thriving, family-oriented community, and we must take every step to protect our residents from environmental hazards. One of the most pressing concerns we face is the continued threat of harmful waste incineration facilities near our homes, schools, and businesses. That is why I am proud to support Mayor Christi Fraga’s unwavering commitment to this cause and Senator Bryan Ávila’s SB 1008, a critical piece of legislation that aims to safeguard our community.
Why SB 1008 Matters
Senator Bryan Ávila’s SB 1008 is designed to prohibit new ash-producing waste-to-energy facilities from being built near residential areas. If passed, this bill will ensure a cleaner, safer future for Doral by reducing exposure to toxic pollutants and preventing environmental threats that could harm our health and quality of life. However, the fight is far from over. This bill has not yet passed, and we must continue advocating for its approval. The residents of Doral have already experienced the dangers of waste incineration firsthand, and we cannot afford to let history repeat itself.
Doral’s Stand Against Incineration
In 2023, a devastating incinerator fire raised serious concerns about the health and environmental risks posed by these facilities. In response, Senator Bryan Ávila visited the incinerator site to witness the impact firsthand. His leadership, along with Mayor Christi Fraga’s tireless efforts, has been instrumental in keeping this issue at the forefront of legislative discussions.
Doral residents deserve clean air, a safe environment, and a community free from toxic threats. This initiative is about protecting our children, families, and businesses from pollutants that could have long-term health consequences.
How You Can Help?
Mayor Christi Fraga has led the charge in raising awareness and mobilizing the community, but we need every resident to stand together in support of SB 1008. Here’s how you can help:
Stay Informed – Follow updates from the City of Doral and the Doral Chamber of Commerce.
Make Your Voice Heard – Contact state legislators and express your support for SB 1008.
Spread the Word – Share information with friends, neighbors, and community leaders.
Get Involved – Attend meetings, rallies, and events that advocate for a cleaner Doral.
Together, We Will Protect Doral’s Future
This is a fight for the health and well-being of our families, our children, and our future generations. By supporting SB 1008 and working alongside Mayor Christi Fraga, Senator Bryan Ávila, and community leaders, we can ensure that Doral remains a safe, vibrant, and thriving place to live.
“We cannot afford to stay silent. Let’s stand together, raise our voices, and take action to protect Doral’s future!” – Mayor Christi Fraga – City of Doral
