After an extended rain delay that dripped on for several days, the Miami Christian School baseball managed to pull off a doubleheader after having to play the semi-final that began on Saturday, May 26, and ended with a 13-5 win on Monday, May 28, over Seven Rivers Christian. All this just hours before playing for the title game on that same day against Wakulla Christian at Ft. Myers’ Hammond Stadium.
Exhausted and exhilarated all at the same time, the team brought it home with a 9-3 victory for the MCS record books. For Miami Christian’s Baseball Coach Chris Cuadra – a 2005 graduate – winning this first FHSAA 2A State Championship title in 43 years for his alma mater was a dream come true.
Florida High School Baseball State Championships took place at Centurylink Sports Complex in Fort Myers, which was heavy hit by subtropical storm Alberto, the first named storm of the 2018 hurricane season.
Doral-based Miami Christian School registration is now open for the fall. For information, visit www.miamichristian.org or call 305 221-7754 (ext. 773).
