The Casino at Hialeah Park, which is scheduled to open this summer, announced last week that it is compiling a roster of heavy hitting Tropical music artists for their concert series, “Salsa Under the Stars”.
The Cuban born Roberto Torres is known the world over and has earned numerous Gold and Platinum records over the course of his illustrious career. His singing career with Sonora Matancera puts him among the top Cuban singers of all time. Torres, who is considered one of the highest authorities on the history of Cuban music, has scored countless hits but is most well-known for the classic “El Caballo Viejo”.
The Celia Cruz All Stars, a band featuring band members that played with Celia at some point in her career, showcases Celia’s classics with a twist of funk. Celia Cruz earned her title as “The Queen of Salsa” as she garnered over 100 worldwide accolades, multiple Platinum and Gold Records, three GRAMMY® awards and four Latin GRAMMY® awards, as well as a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
Cachao’s Mambo All-Stars, carry on the legacy of the Grammy-winning bassist and composer Israel “Cachao” Lopez. The legendary Cachao, considered by many to be the creator of the mambo, won a GRAMMY® via his album Master Sessions, Vol. 1 in 1995. Cachao’s Mambo All-Stars feature an unmatched ensemble of Afro-Cuban artists, many whom played with Cachao throughout his unprecedented career.
Casino Creative Director Frank Fiore said,” We are forging ahead with our plan to make the Casino at Hialeah Park the go-to venue for Tropical music in South Florida. We are proud to boast that the six musical acts on the “Salsa Under the Stars” roster are only the beginning as we are still in negotiations and plan to make more announcements in the upcoming weeks.”
Hialeah Park, which is considered “THE” racetrack by horse racing enthusiasts, is currently undergoing a major transformation which will bring a gorgeous new casino and will revitalize one of South Florida’s gems. Hialeah Park’s renovation, which is just Phase 1 of a bolder future plan, will showcase a casino that will house 870 slots, 20 poker tables, and 3 domino tables along with a variety of lounges, cafes and restaurants. Construction crews are currently working around the clock to unveil the casino this summer.
