Get ready as the City of Doral, a fragmented business community, gets a much needed “Unity” boost on May 16. On that evening, The Business Forum Group at Doral (TBFG) hosts an historical Changing of the Guard as The Doral Business Council (DBC), which regrettably closed in March 2018, will be honored for its 14 years of service to Doral’s business community. All DBC members who are now part of TBFG, have joined forces with TBFG to propel economic development and business opportunities to new levels never before seen in the history of this young city.
As the fastest growing city in the State of Florida, Doral consists of over 11,000 businesses large, medium, and small. So many of us are proud of the multitude of accolades the city continues to receive and the many accomplishments that have consistently ranked the city at the top of South Florida’s economic base. All in all, however, there exists an underlying threat to Doral’s success that could potentially curtail the achievement of sustainable business growth.
The city is home to many business associations and chambers of commerce representing several countries, industry sectors, and key market segments. Unfortunately, far too many are isolated from each other and operating in an environment of competition rather than collaboration. An atmosphere of discord and lack of ethics is a sad reality in Doral. Selfishness, greed, and a general lack of trust are running rampant in our community. This is a poison that must be eradicated now, otherwise all the time and money that our city officials and business leaders have invested in growing our economy and creating jobs will vanish.
TBFG’s vision is to forge a spirited and covenant relationship with local businesses and the community of Doral. This includes all Doral-based business groups and chambers of commerce. The time has come to set aside our differences and unite as one bold business community to ensure the continual and record-breaking economic growth of the city. A new dialogue and spirit of collaboration must become the “new normal” in Doral.
