Tree City USA’ Asked by State for Fifth Year

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has recommended the City of Doral to be designated “Tree City USA” for its fifth consecutive year, according to Adam H. Putnam, Commissioner of Agriculture and James R. Karels, Director of the Florida Forest Service.

The City met four standard requirements for recommendation of recertification, including existence a Tree Board/Department, Tree Ordinance and Forestry Program with an annual budget exceeding $2 per capita, as well as an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

During the 2012 calendar year, Doral’s forestry budget exceeded the per capita threshold while its vigorous code protect healthy while requiring trees replacements to mitigate the loss of canopy.
