Westend on 87th, a retail destination in the heart of Doral, is committed to supporting the Doral community and enjoys giving back. Home to a unique and impressive mix of over 30 locally owned, small businesses, the female-led, family-owned shopping center, which has served the Doral community for over 20 years, takes pride in being a community partner.
Following the transformation of the center’s 7,800 square foot courtyard into a beautiful open-air urban park, Westend has hosted numerous free events to positively contribute to the community, including a Fall Festival, Spring Family Day, Winter Wonderland showcase and most notably, Well at Westend – a holistic wellness series in partnership with the City of Doral that offers complimentary health and wellness classes monthly.
Designed to support whole wellness – mind, body and soul – Well at Westend activities range from yoga, zumba, art workshops, meditation and mindfulness to low and high impact workouts appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. Classes are held on Saturdays and open to the community at no charge.
“At Westend on 87th, community and wellness are a large part of our culture, and we enjoy doing our part to support the mental and physical health of our Doral neighbors,” said Silvia J Fernandez, Westend’s Managing Director.
In addition to events, Westend also shows support for local educators and students – hosting a back-to-school supply drive, local teacher recognition and recognizing students at Ronald W. Reagan/Doral Senior High School as No Place for Hate role models and anti-bullying champions. Students receive Amazon gift cards and school supplies courtesy of Westend for their roles in making their school a No Place for Hate learning environment where every student feels safe and valued.
“More than ever many people are experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety,” added Fernandez. “It is important that we support each other’s emotional well-being whether it’s through wellness and exercise, job opportunities, or positive recognitions.”
Next up for Westend is a center-wide Job Fair, which will take place February 1-7. The multi-day job fair allows community members to apply for open positions at participating restaurants and retailers, such as Diced, Elite Press, Eparepa, Modo Furniture, School of Rock, and Sabor Havana Cigars.
