FIU’s inaugural Pig Roast Bowl Series: Tailgate Edition

Florida International University will host a pig roast competition as part of its tailgate ahead of the Shula Bowl, the annual football showdown between FIU and Florida Atlantic University, in partnership with Louis Fonseca Productions and Kiko Hospitality Group.
A popular competition series in South Florida in its fourth year, this marks the first time the Pig Roast Bowl Series is being held at a university.
Eighty-three teams have registered. Competitors will compete for the title of Pig Roast Champion. Other categories include Best Chicharron, People’s Choice, Best Pig Presentation, Best Alumni and Best Rookie Team.
In addition to food, the family-friendly event also will feature music, a kid’s fun zone and other activities. Net proceeds will benefit FIU Athletics through the FIU Foundation.
