More than 400 supporters will gather at the Go Red For Women Celebration Luncheon and Love Your Heart Workshops to learn more about heart disease and support the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement and to celebrate the campaign’s 10th anniversary. The celebration includes educational workshops, an interactive boutique and a heart-healthy luncheon.
The chairman of the event is Gabrielle Finley-Hazle, CEO of Florida Medical Center, a campus of North Shore. Tenet Florida and GCI Worldwide are the City Goes Red Sponsors of Go Red For Women. The Go Red For Women movement is sponsored nationally by Macy’s and Merck.
The statistics are alarming. Heart disease is the number one killer of women and affects one in every three women across the United States. In fact, heart disease has claimed the life of more women than men every year since 1984. In 2004, the American Heart Association launched the Go Red For Women movement to empower women to take charge of their heart and in turn, lead a longer, stronger life.
