María la O is a Cuban zarzuela (lyric opera) composed by Ernesto Lecuona. It tells the story of a 19th-century mestiza courtesan in love with a handsome young white landowner’s son. The zarzuela is characterized by love, tragedy, and unexpected tragical ending.
Fully performed (in Spanish) with traditional Afro-Cuban dances and beautiful melodies. Live music and with full orchestras.
A rare gem rarely performed.
