Maria la O is set in the vibrant city of Habana, Cuba in the 1800’s. The plot revolves around a mulatta woman, who is involved in a tragic love triangle with a wealthy white landowner. The melodrama reflects the social stereotypes of a bygone era. Fully staged zarzuela with rich Spanish-Caribbean melodies and Afro-Cuban dances.
