Michel Art Gallery and Graffiti Artists colaborate in Spinal Cord Benefit

Mary Michel Art, LLC is having a Fundraiser for Spinal Cord Injuries on Saturday, Febuary 21st, 2015 from
Ms. Michel owns two galleries on the same block in the Midtown District of Miami.
One gallery is called “Expressions” and currently has a Grafitti theme. Break dancers, hip-hop photos and DJ.
The other Gallery is “Visions,’ which represents world-renowned artists such as Charles Carson and Steve Zaluski
and will feature a live painting by Franklin Goldman.
When Ms. Michel coordinated her Opening Night for “Art Wynwood.” She expected it would be in Art Wynwood. But, it
was held in Mid-Town. A gentrified Wynwood. The only artists not represented were the original founders of art in the
It was the Graffiti Artists that started the Wynwood Movement. Ms. Michel was able to contact ASEK. ASEK is
the most respected Graffiti Artist among Graffiti Artists in Miami. Upon meeting ASEK, she discovered that he was a
paraplegic. He has been wheelchair bound for over 25 years. He still has dreams he gets up and walks at
Ms. Michel decided to donate 10% of her proceeds to Spinal Cord Injury. ASEK requested that she contribute
any funds to The Spinal Cord Injury Support Group (SCISG). SCISG is a nonprofit organization that
promotes camaraderie through friendship, education, advocacy and recreation to enhance the
quality of life for those affected by spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders and other disabilities.
Once the word got out that ASEK was looking for help, Ms. Michel’s Gallery was flooded with Graffiti Artists.
All of which were polite, respectful and more than willing to do anything to make the cause succeed.
She had other Artist drop out of the Exhibit as they did not want to associate with “Street Art.”
She would also like to thank and recognize TRAGEK, CYST, REMOTE, ATOMIK, NME, AND JUAN.
Ms. Michel has been coordinating the up-coming event with Charles Carson, TRAJEK and SHADY MACK.
