Join Oolite Arts for the opening reception of Alberto Checa’s poignant exhibition “Amidst Twin Suns.” This first solo exhibition of Checa, a Cuban immigrant artist, offers a compelling critique of the American labor system and a tribute to his mother’s arduous work. Curated by Jean Chung, the show features an array of drawings, installations, and performances deeply rooted in Checa’s experiences in Miami. Highlights include a collaborative performance with artist Nick León and a unique installation symbolizing the often invisible labor of the Latino community. The reception will take place from 6 – 9 p.m. Feb. 7, 2024 and the exhibition will be on view through April 14, 2024 at Oolite Arts, 924 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
