Area Stage Company currently is presenting its next Conservatory (student) production, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr., at the ASC Black Box Theatre in Sunset Place, 5701 Sunset Dr. Suite 286, in South Miami.
Remaining performances are Friday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 18, at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 19, at 5 p.m.
ASC’s director of Conservatory Education, Rebecca Ashton, directs and choreographs this wondrous production which will be performed by students ages 6-17.
For more than 50 years, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has captivated audiences in a world of pure imagination. Featuring the enchanting songs that you know and love from the 1971 film, in addition to a host of fun new songs, this performance is a scrumdiddlyumptious musical guaranteed to delight every audience member’s sweet tooth.
Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka, world-famous inventor of the Everlasting Gobstopper, as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. This production will feature innovative, in-the-round staging, and a new, modern take on the charming tale that has been a worldwide favorite for decades.
