ArtSouth exhibits return with works by Claudine Charles
One of Claudine Charles’ paintings.

Claudine Charles is a Palmetto Bay resident who works in silk, acrylic, water and oil paint.

She also is a teacher of geometry, math, chemistry, science and French, as well as a choir singer and ballroom dancer.

The work of this multi-talented artist will be on display Saturday, Sept. 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Perrine Community House. This will be the first exhibit of the season as ArtSouth’s monthly exhibitions of area artists’ works has been on hiatus during the summer. Light refreshments will be served.

Her paintings are based on what she sees in the world around her.

“My art is inspired by God’s works,” Charles said. “My artistic expression exemplifies my love for the aesthetic beauty found in nature. The goal of my paintings is to emanate an exuberance that draws attention with bright bold colors and just a touch of nature’s vibe. Or it is my way out of reality. I hope you will escape with me.”

Charles work is a blend of many styles seen throughout history and around the world.

“I have spent most of my life painting in the United States,” Charles said. “My paintings however are rooted in the art style of my native country, Haiti. I’m challenged to mix the Haitian Naif style with a unique blend of Impressionism, Realism, Surrealism, Fauvism, Cubism and, my latest attraction, the world of Abstraction.”

ArtSouth events may be seen on the website at www.artsouthmiami.org.

Sponsors for this event, in addition to ArtSouth and the Village of Palmetto Bay, are Florida Arts & Culture, Blick Art Materials, Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs office and Schnebly Wines.

Perrine Community House is located at 900 Perrine Ave. in Palmetto Bay.
