As part of their ongoing program to support local artists, ArtSouth and the Village of Palmetto Bay are providing an opportunity for area artists to promote and exhibit their work in a safe outdoor site at Coral Reef Park on the third Saturday of each month, adjacent to the Palmetto Bay Farmers Market.
Previous exhibits at the Perrine Community House had been popular and well attended, but had been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A virtual exhibit had been done online recently.
On Apr. 17 the ArtSouth artist will be Jesus “Ink” Marquez, a Miami artist who is originally from the Tenochtitlán part of Mexico.
Coral Reef Park is located at 7895 SW 152 St. in Palmetto Bay. Access to the art exhibit and to the Farmer’s Market is at the SW 77th Avenue entrance of the park, in the Tree Hammock Area. The time will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Beatriz Hermann of ArtSouth is working with the village as she has before for the joint exhibitions and says she is happy with the venue.
“It’s in an area that’s close to, but not actually in the Farmer’s Market,” Hermann said. “The village asked us if we would like to schedule the exhibits there on those days because so many people attend the Farmer’s Market then. It’s a beautiful area.”
Some of Marquez’s work can be seen at www.instagram.com/michuy.ink/.
