Construction firm Robins & Morton, Anchor Health Properties, Baptist Health South Florida, and LifePoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of LifePoint Health, recently celebrated the topping out of the new Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital on the northwest corner of SW 72nd Street (Sunset Drive) and 62nd Avenue in South Miami.
The topping out ceremony marks a significant milestone, signifying the structural completion of the project.
The three-story,100,000-square-foot facility will feature 62 private inpatient rooms, with the capacity to open an additional 30 private rooms. It will offer specialized inpatient rehabilitation treatment for patients suffering from brain, spinal cord and other traumatic injuries, as well as select cardiac, oncology, orthopedic, and stroke patients.
“As we reach this key point in construction, we are proud to honor the collective work of our partners, Baptist Health South Florida and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, as well as the full project team who are helping to bring this important facility to life,” said Richard Paddock, senior vice president, Development, and partner with Anchor Health Properties. “This hospital will be a place of hope and healing – designed to help patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence in a setting that puts their well-being first.”
“This milestone represents more than progress on a construction timeline – it marks a meaningful step forward in expanding access to specialized, high-quality rehabilitation care in South Miami,” said Will Foster, senior development director with Anchor Health Properties. “We’re proud to play a role in creating a space where patients and their families can find support, healing, and renewed strength close to home.”
Designed with patient comfort and recovery in mind, the freestanding facility will boast adaptive units, multidisciplinary therapy gyms equipped with the latest therapeutic technologies, speech-language pathology rooms and outdoor spaces designed to further support patients in their transition back to daily living activities.
The building will include a three-story parking garage with capacity for 179 parking spaces to ensure convenient access for patients and visitors.
“This milestone signifies an important step in the construction of this facility and the future services it will bring to our South Miami community,” said Johnathan Peavy Robins & Morton operations manager. “We look forward to the next phase and ultimately the lasting, positive impact this project will have for many years to come.”
The facility is scheduled to open in 2026.
Robins & Morton is the general contractor for the project. ESa is the architect.
