Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is changing to better serve our students and communities, and we want you – parents, guardians, caregivers and all District stakeholders – to join the conversation and let your voice be heard.
The District is launching the Community Conversations About Redefining Our Schools in February at three conveniently located high schools throughout the county:
Thursday, February 8, at Fort Lauderdale High, 1600 N.E. Fourth Ave., Fort Lauderdale
· Thursday, February 15, at J.P. Taravella High, 10600 Riverside Drive, Coral Springs
· Thursday, February 22, at Charles W. Flanagan High, 12800 Taft St., Pembroke Pines
As school districts across the nation face challenges due to under-enrollment, population changes and increased competition, BCPS remains focused and committed to making our District more innovative and responsive to the evolving educational needs in our communities.
Redefining BCPS will involve community input, data analysis and creative thinking in exploring ways to reduce the number of under-enrolled schools to ensure equitable funding and instructional resources across the District.Strategies may include adding new programs, boundary adjustments, combining schools, school closures and repurposing schools to expand community services.
BCPS urges the community to take part in this transformational process to positively impact schools and the greater community.
Community Conversations About Redefining Our Schools is the first of many opportunities throughout the planning process when stakeholders will be asked to provide input. Any civic or faith-based organizations interested in hosting a future focus group or discussion from February through May 2024, should emailredefiningbcps@browardschools.com.
