The Allen Morris Company on Oct. 18 hosted the Coral Gables Garden Club and their guests for a special preview of the top 25 images of the second annual, “As I See It Photography Competition.”
The photography competition, run by the Coral Gables Garden Club, is open to the public and aims to increase appreciation for the natural environment by highlighting outstanding nature and wildlife photography. It is a fundraiser for the club so members can continue their great work on community, environmental, and conservation projects.
“We are so grateful that Allen Morris was our grand sponsor and hosted this preview of the top 25 images,” said Susan Rodriguez, club president. “It was a lovely tribute to his mother-in-law, longtime member of the Garden Club and past Mayor Dorothy Thomson. It was wonderful to hear Allen speak of his mother who was also a member and his love of photography.”
The Marlene Kerdyk Beautification fund also is a sponsor for the grand prize of $1,000 awarded to the most outstanding image, as Marlene was a beloved member of the garden club for years.
The “As I See It” photography competition for 2023 will start on Apr. 3 and run through May 5. The top 25 images will be in an exhibition for a full month in August at the Coral Gables Museum, along with having the photographer’s images printed in a museum-quality curated catalog.
