Boccia Clinic for Veterans and Adults With Physical Disabilities

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The Parks and Recreation Division’s Special Populations Section is partnering with the City of Sunrise for a Boccia Clinic, from 1 to 3PM on Tuesday, April 5th. The program is for veterans, with or without disabilities, and adults 18 and up with physical disabilities. It will be held at Sunrise Civic Center Gymnasium (10610 W Oakland Park Blvd., Sunrise 33351; 954-747-4600). Although the clinic is free, space is limited and preregistration is required.

The event will introduce participants to the sport of boccia, a highly competitive paralympic throwing sport in which individuals throw leather-like balls on a marked floor, with the intent of having the balls land as close as possible to the large ball known as the Jack. The clinic focuses on hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills that will improve with continued practice playing the sport.
