An annual book sale conducted by volunteers dedicated to helping the library system of Brandeis University will return on Sunday, Mar. 19.
It again will be located in front of the Publix Supermarket on S. Dixie Highway at SW 147th Street in Palmetto Bay and run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Books donated for the fundraiser are hardcovers and trade paperbacks, most worth $25 or more.
“We have an extensive collection of books in all fiction and non-fiction categories, including cookbooks, all areas of history, antiques, music, gardens and flowers, coffee table books and more,” said Linda Zahler, one of the event organizers. “All are in excellent condition.
The fiction books are priced at just $2 each, the non-fiction books are $2 and up, and we have children’s books for $1.”
The event — with proceeds benefitting Brandeis University libraries, scholarships and research — was organized by the South Miami Chapter of Brandeis National Committee.
The Brandeis University National Women’s Committee is the largest “friends of a library” group in the world with 48,000 members nationwide.
Zahler said that one reason the book sale is so popular is that all of the used books are sold to raise money to buy new books for the library. Zahler said that Publix has been hosting the book sale for years now and that her organization is grateful for their help.
