A number of residents of the Town of Cutler Bay are equestrians who like to participate in town events.
Among the regulars are Michelle Horne, Yelani Lopez, Annmarie Morgan Myers, Laura Fazioli-Micali and Renee Soucy Reynolds.
“These girls work very hard to bring the horses to the town of Cutler Bay every year for the residents to enjoy,” said Marilyn Conner Horne, an elementary school teacher and the mother of Michelle Horne. “Residents really enjoy it and the horses are people friendly.”
The most recent event in which they participated was the town’s annual parade on the 4th of July. Marilyn Horne and Louis Bieler also took part, doing a necessary job as “pooper scoopers.”
One of the horses, “Red,” is now 30-plus years old and is retiring from active events.
“Red has been with me since 2008,” said his owner, Michelle Horne. “We have done rodeos, parades and trail rides throughout Florida. He performed at the Homestead Rodeo and the Dade-County Youth Fair for over a decade. He’s now in his early 30s and is slowing down.
Even though he enjoys prancing in parades, he’s tired at the end of the day. This was his last official parade. He will be enjoying his time on light trails and green pastures eating all the grass he can eat.”
Red and Michelle also were featured in a music video called Tennessee Girl.
