Attired in keeping with the Oriental theme of the Coral Gables Woman’s Club’s President’s Dinner are (l-r) Debi Van Stone Moore, Ruth Martinez, Mireya Kilmon, Barbara Lapsley and Mayra Dominguez.

Mayra Dominguez just concluded her two-year term as president of the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club and, in appreciation of her service, was honored on Apr. 16, with a dinner-dance at CGWC historic clubhouse.

Debi Van Stone Moore, president for 2016-18, coordinated the affair with an oriental theme. From a three-tiered cake with a golden elephant on top to amazing centerpieces, the décor was complemented by the attire of many of the guests.

Family and friends joined club members for a fun-filled evening during which Mayra thanked the club and surprised Gloria Burns with the President’s “Best Member” Award for her efforts in promoting, bringing in new members and expanding the club’s outreach.

Among the many enjoying the night were Dr. Iris Torres Rivera and Ralph Rivera, Carmen Suarez, Ruth and Sam Martinez, Arely Ruiz, Barbara and Bill Lapsley, Mitzi Jenner, Ivonne Perez Suarez, Chiara Migani, Chuck and Patty Fossler, Theresa Gilmore, Susie Tilson and Patty Hendon.

The Coral Gables Woman’s Club meets the first and third Wednesday of every month and always is looking for women wanting to volunteer and make a positive impact on the community.

Aside from supporting numerous charitable programs, the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club owns and operates a free children’s dental clinic attached to the clubhouse and provides more than $250,000 in free dental care annually to children who fall between the cracks on out healthcare system.
