Miami-Dade County School Board vice chair Monica Colucci hosted her third annual “Evening with the Stars” awards ceremony on May 7. The event recognized outstanding students from District 8 for their achievements in academics, citizenship, athletics, leadership, and the performing arts.

The evening brought together students, families, educators, and community members to honor the diligence and talent of District 8 students.

The program included opening remarks from Dr. Miguel A. Balsera, principal of Miami Arts Studio 6-12 at Zelda Glazer, the Pledge of Allegiance led by Ava Prego, a Presentation of Colors by the Miami Coral Park Senior High School Color Guard, and the National Anthem performed by Juliana Llano. Guests enjoyed a dynamic performance of Jersey Boys by the Middle School Theater Magnet at Miami Arts Studio 6-12 at Zelda Glazer. The ceremony featured greetings from Vice Chair Colucci, followed by award presentations to student honorees.

“Evening with the Stars is one of the most meaningful events we host because it shines a light on the incredible students who make District 8 so special,” Colucci said. “These students represent excellence, character, service, and determination. Their accomplishments remind us of the bright future ahead for our schools, our community, and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.”

Parents, educators, and community members joined in support of the honorees, who exemplify the excellence of District 8.
