A resolution sponsored by Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee passed during the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, April 5, to explore the impact of COVID-19 on transit employees. Many employees of the County’s transit system have remained on the front lines of this pandemic to provide essential transit services throughout the County, often putting themselves at personal risk.

“The continued safety and security of the County’s transit employees has been and continues to be a top priority of mine and this Board. Our bus drivers and other transit employees ensure that our residents can safely commute throughout the County every day. We need to ensure our transit employees are safe and protected daily too,” said Commissioner McGhee.

With this resolution, the County Mayor or County Mayor’s designee will provide a written report on the impact COVID-19 has had on the County’s transit employees and the measures implemented, or being considered for implementation, by the administration to curb any further impact of COVID-19 on transit employees. This report will also include all the measures taken to protect these employees from the risk of COVID-19 and an analysis of employee absences attributable to COVID-19.
