Commissioner Gonzalez announces 2023 Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program

Small business owners in Miami-Dade County’s District 11 are invited to apply for Commissioner Roberto J. Gonzalez’s Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. Business owners that meet the eligibility requirements can receive up to $5,000. Grants awarded may be used to purchase inventory/supplies, business equipment, marketing/advertising, building/business liability insurance, minor interior/exterior renovations, security system for commercial property, commercial property lease or mortgage, work vehicle, and professional services and training.

Applications are available online and in-person from Monday, April 3 through Friday, April 21, 2023. Completed applications will be accepted from Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28, 2023, by 4 p.m.

Business owners interested in applying must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Business must be located in District 11
  • Business must have been in operation for at least 1 year
  • Must be a for-profit business
  • A physical address for the business is required
  • Home-based businesses can apply
  • Special projects may be considered by the Selection Committee

Business owners interested in applying are encouraged to attend an in-person workshop to learn about the program requirements at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 at West Kendall Regional Library, 10201 Hammocks Blvd., #159, Miami, FL. 33196. Attending the workshop does not guarantee your business will receive funding.

Online applications are available at www.miamidade.gov/district11 or printed applications may be picked up at Neighbors And Neighbors Association (NANA), located at the Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall Social and Economic Institute, 5120 NW 24th Ave., Miami, FL 33142.

Completed applications may be submitted via email to District11momandpop@nanafl.org or hand-delivered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 24 through 26, at West Kendall Regional Library, 10201 Hammocks Blvd., #159, Miami, FL 33196.
