Performers dressed in vibrant-colored costumes paid homage to Venezuela and Colombia at Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan’s 11 annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Oct. 20 at Joella C. Good Elementary.

The multicultural crowd was served dinner which included Spanish dishes such as lechon asado, moro rice, and yuca while attendees enjoyed a performance by Venezuela Danza y Tambor and Puerta De Oro Colombia. Raffles prizes included a golf package for four at Country Club of Miami, a gas card, and a grocery card.

“We had a great time honoring Latin culture and contributions to our community,” Commissioner Jordan said. “This event provided a great opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our community.”

Sponsors for the 2017 Hispanic Heritage celebration are Sedano’s Supermarket, MCM, Related Urban, Miami Dolphins, El Dorado Furniture, Horsepower Electric, Calder Racecourse and Casino, Comcast, the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce, The Lasarte Law Firm, Golden Glades Pilot/Mobile Gas Station, and Fresco y Mas supermarket.
