Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis today expressed strong support for Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez following his floor remarks advancing major property tax reform. Perez described the proposal as potentially the most aggressive property tax legislation ever passed by a legislative chamber.
“Property taxes have become one of the biggest drivers of the affordability crisis in Florida. Families who did everything right are now watching rising tax bills threaten the homes they worked a lifetime to keep. People ask me all the time whether they truly own their homes or are just renting them from the government,” said Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis.
“Residents of Miami-Dade County are not an open checkbook for government. We must control spending, protect essential services, and deliver real property tax relief for the families who pay the bills. I applaud Speaker Daniel Perez and the members of our Miami-Dade Delegation in the Florida House for boldly moving forward with serious reform that delivers meaningful savings while safeguarding public safety and other core services. I look forward to the Senate’s proposal. Taxpayers deserve action, and I stand ready to work with our state leaders to get this right for Florida families.”
