Commissioner Roberto J. Gonzalez is calling for an independent audit of the Miami-Dade County payroll system in order to safeguard taxpayer money. Additionally, an outside independent auditor will bring a fresh set of eyes to determine what can be done to ensure that the over or underpayment of County employees is prevented.

“Taxpayers deserve to know that their money is being spent correctly and County employees should have the peace of mind that they are not being over or underpaid,” said Commissioner Gonzalez. “An independent auditor is needed to review and make recommendations on how to fix current processes, and to bring greater transparency to help restore confidence in County government.”

Although Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has asked for an internal audit of the payroll system, taxpayers must have an assurance that an outside independent party oversees and verifies the findings and actions of the County.
