Michele “Cozy” Salazar, the reigning Czarina of Miami’s young interior designers and principal at Cozy Salazar, has carved out a unique role in Miami’s design scene, ushering in a new era of “elegant-Cozy style.”
Now, she is offering a window into her tastemaking aesthetic with the grand opening of Cozy Shop & Studio. Located at 7283 SW 57 Ave. in South Miami — on the site of the beloved former children’s store, Red Apple — the shop has opened just in time for the holiday decorating season.
Like its predecessor, Cozy Shop & Studio is “good to the core.” Cozy Shop & Studio presents a curated selection of luxury homeware designed to elevate the home and enhance entertaining. The shop reflects Cozy’s signature classic-yet-contemporary style, with carefully selected pieces ranging from candles, glassware, and tableware to placemats, napkins, napkin rings, coasters, throw pillows, cashmere blankets, and seasonal décor.
Salazar’s atelier will feature exclusive products from her go-to brands, including L’Objet, Jonathan Adler, Kim Seybert, AERIN, and other global luxury brands, along with unique artworks.
A tastemaker of rare distinction, Cozy has designed some of Miami’s most stunning homes and condominiums. Her portfolio spans various styles, from transitional traditional and modern casual to contemporary elegance. Her vibrant and authentic style has gained her a devoted following both online and offline. Her innate sense of design, combined with her passion and intuition, has enabled her to continually grow her brand year after year and was the inspiration behind the new atelier.
When she’s not busy dreaming up interiors or selecting items for her new atelier, she can be found baking cookies with her two daughters, tooling around town with her husband in their Moke, or at the barn riding her horse, Mr. Darcy. With everything, she finds time to be active in Miami’s social circles and on her Instagram @Cozysalazar. She helps guide Coral Gables’ annual Tour of Kitchens, benefiting the Coral Gables Community Foundation and raising funds for Whispering Manes, a therapeutic riding facility that supports disabled equestrians in Miami’s Horse Country.
A Miami native and lifelong student of design, Cozy took design courses after school and interned for a prominent design firm whose clientele includes A-list stars recognized by their first names. She spent hours exploring Miami’s fabric district, absorbing inspiration from her hometown, which has blossomed into a hub of art and design over the past two decades.
Her nickname, “Cozy,” perfectly captures her lifestyle and design philosophy — relaxed, comfortable, warm, cheerful, inviting, soft, tranquil, and laid-back.
At Cozy Shop & Studio, visitors not only will find the best in seasonal home décor but will also experience Cozy’s exuberance and fresh energy. Whether over coffee in the store or during a personal consultation in your own kitchen, she will collaborate with you to create a vision for your home — the most significant investment you will ever make.
