Cutler Ridge Women’s Club raises funds to help kids smile

Members of the Cutler Ridge Women’s Club (CRWC) based in Cutler Bay attended the GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs) Falls tour on Oct. 31.

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs, based in Washington, DC, is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

During the event, the group presented funds that had been raised by the Cutler Ridge members to help support Operation Smile, a program in which surgeons travel overseas to operate on underprivileged children who have a cleft lip or cleft palate so they can have a new, beautiful smile. CRWC president Carol Ann Medina presented a check for $750 for the cause.

In other activities, the CRWC painted an eagle which will be sold for $500 with an organization matching that will bring $1,000 towards maintenance at Everglades National Park.

CRWC members meet at 9:30 a.m. the fourth Tuesday of every month at Cutler Ridge Park, 10100 SW 200 St. in Cutler Bay. For more information on the club, contact Jean Tong-Noon at Jtn193@bellsouth.net or 305-742-3333.
