East Ridge at Cutler Bay, the area’s only not-for-profit life plan community, recently honored 29 associates during the community’s second annual Milestone Awards Celebration.
The associates who work in departments for the community’s independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing represent 355 years of combined service.
Special recognition was given to Housekeeper Pearlene Brown for 35 years of service in Environmental Services. A 30-year award was given to Virginia Duggan, Lifestyle Director.
Recognition for 25 years was awarded to Geraldine Chin, Certified Nursing Assistand in Skilled Nursing. Denise Aarons, Community Home Health Manager, and Deloris Brown, a Certified Nursing Assistant in Community Home Health, received 20-year awards. Other associates were recognized for 5, 10 and 15 years of service.
Dignitaries were on hand to congratulate the award recipients, including Larry Schreiber, CEBS, CEO and president, SantaFe HealthCare and CEO SantaFe HealthCare Affiliates; Troy Hart, president, SantaFe Senior Living, and East Ridge board members Jody Crossland, Ed Williamson and Gene Patterson, a resident of East Ridge.
East Ridge’s executive director, Ken Cormier, officiated at the event and thanked the recipients for their commitment, dedication and years of service.
“Our associates truly embrace our mission to serve residents,” he said. “When a resident decides to move to East Ridge, they are seeking someone to take care of their needs for the rest of their lives. Our associates embody this caring spirit. Through their work, they touch people’s lives. The longevity of our associates can be attributed to opportunities for growth offered from within East Ridge, which leads to greater job satisfaction.”
Department managers shared poignant stories about the recipients and their special dedication to East Ridge residents as well as their co-workers.
